Mark Curtis Talks Politics on the Ronn Owens Show on KGO-AM 810

(Denver, Colorado)

Expect the unexpected at a political convention! At 10:55 this morning my phone rang, with Mark Silvermann on the other end. Mark produces the Ronn Owens Show on KGO radio.

Their guest, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, was stuck in traffic. So how quick could I get to their location and be on the show?
30 seconds, and I was there! Ronn and I talked a half-hour on politics, etc. You can go to www.kgoradio.com where it will be listed in the archives. Just click and listen! I was on from 11 to 11:30 a.m., so check it out. They put all their shows on the web.

By 11:30, the Lt. Gov. showed up! That's him in the photo with me, if you are not a Californian. He could be our next Governor, when Arnold retires. John's daughter Genet and I have been good friends for many years, from the days when I was a reporter on Capitol Hill in DC and she was press secretary for Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA).

Stay tuned for more blogs throughout the day and night! I will also be on KTVU-TV2 in the Bay Area, each morning from Denver at 7:45. Check back at www.MarkCurtisMedia.com my all-new blog and web site! Later!!!

Protesters on the Ground; Tornadoes in the Air

Denver Protest.JPG

(Parker, Colorado)

Well I just saw my first tornado! An ugly menace south of Parker, Colorado. It looks like no one was hurt and there is little damage reported so far. But it was scary! I was driving in my car down the highway. Sadly, my video camera and still camera were not in my car.

Hopefully, the tornado will not be a metaphor for what's to come this week in Denver. It was pretty volatile in downtown Denver this afternoon. Hundreds gathered to protest all kinds of things, from global warming to corporate globalization. Hundreds of police were on hand to manage what appeared to be a well organized, vocal, but otherwise non-violent protest. So far anyway!

I'll be on KTVU-TV2 at 7:45 Pacific time each morning this week, to preview the convention events. Check in often at www.MarkCurtisMedia.com.
